Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is rising on the Strip where The Mirage once stood, replacing the resort’s famous volcano with a full-scale, guitar-shaped hotel tower unlike anything else in Las Vegas. The $4 billion project is targeting a Q4 2027 opening, with the previous tram connecting the property to Treasure Island reopening once the resort launches, a nostalgic tie between the Strip’s past and its next big era.
Standing 660 feet tall across 42 stories, the tower will hold 675 rooms as part of a resort offering roughly 3,600 to 3,700 rooms total, along with a 174,000-square-foot casino featuring 2,000 slot machines and 212 table games. Once complete, the tower is designed to be as striking at night as it is by day: its guitar “strings” are lined with LEDs expected to be visible for miles, with potential light shows choreographed to music.
Recent construction photos also reveal sweeping, curved balconies wrapping around the tower at the guitar body’s “waist,” following the instrument’s natural curve. Given the tower’s central Strip location, there’s speculation that some rooms could offer views of the Sphere, though Hard Rock hasn’t officially confirmed this. Beyond the spectacle, the resort is projected to employ up to 6,000 workers, making it one of the biggest hiring pushes tied to a single Strip property in recent years.
