Planning for New Year’s Eve Traffic

We are only 4 days away from New Year’s Eve and the biggest night of the year for Las Vegas nightlife. With upwards of 300,000 people expected to ring in the New Year in Las Vegas, the city is taking pre-cautions to ensure safety for the crowds on the Strip. What does this mean? Give yourself plenty of extra time to get to dinner reservations, shows, Las Vegas clubs and more.

The Strip will be closed to vehicles on Las Vegas Boulevard from Sahara to Tropicana Avenues starting at 6:30 pm. Freeway off-ramps for the Strip will be closed starting at 5:30 pm and outdoor walkways, elevators and escalators will be shut off at 6 pm.

Plan ahead if you are in need of transportation anywhere around town and contact your hotels for further information on taxis, limos, etc. With the Strip being closed, you can expect big traffic on surrounding streets. Any motorists wishing to cross Las Vegas Boulevard during the closure can do so via Sahara Avenue, Desert Inn Road and Russell Road.

The Strip will reopen to vehicle traffic between 3 and 4 am after the roads have been cleared and cleaned.
