Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Rüfüs Du Sol, originally known simply as Rüfüs, is a dynamic alternative dance trio composed of Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George, and James Hunt. Their journey began under the name Rüfüs until January 2014, when they made the strategic decision to add “Du Sol” exclusively for their US audience, aiming to distinguish themselves from the funk band Rufus. By May 2018, the trio globally adopted the name change for consistency.
Their debut album, “Atlas,” made waves by securing the number one spot on the Australian charts in 2013. This success paved the way for subsequent albums, all achieving either number one or number two status in their home country. Notably, “Bloom,” their second album, debuted at the top of the Australian albums chart in early 2016. The track “You Were Right” earned them the prestigious ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 2015.
Rüfüs Du Sol mesmerized fans with three sold-out stadium shows at the Banc of California Stadium during their Surrender global tour in 2021–2023. In 2022, their accomplishments were further cemented when they won the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in recognition of their thrilling song “Alive.” They opened the Oshega Festival in Montreal in 2023, and they carried that momentum into 2024 when they headlined Sydney’s Field Day event on New Year’s Day.
