Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his stage name deadmau5, is a DJ and producer of electronic music from Canada. Known for his distinctive combination of electro house and progressive house, he has also dabbled in techno as Testpilot. Zimmerman has cemented his place as one of the most important figures in electronic music with his six Grammy Award nominations.
Working with renowned musicians such as Rob Swire, Wolfgang Gartner, and Kaskade, deadmau5 has made a lasting impression on the scene. In addition, he has collaborated with DJ Aero, Tommy Lee, Steve Duda, and WTF? in ensembles like BSOD (Better Sounding On Drugs) and WTF? To further solidify his reputation, he established his own record label, Mau5trap, in 2007.
Early works like as “I Don’t Want No Other” in 2000 and the compilation album “Deadmau5 Circa 1998–2002” under the pseudonym Halcyon441 marked the beginning of Zimmerman’s musical career. The first studio album he released was “Get Scraped” in 2005, and the second was “Vexillology” in 2006. But it was his breakout album “Random Album Title” (2008), which included singles like “Faxing Berlin” and “I Remember” with Kaskade, that catapulted him to widespread recognition.
Maintaining his popularity, deadmau5 put out successful albums including “4×4=12” in 2010 and “For Lack of a Better Name” in 2009. His latter albums, “W:/2016Album/” (2016), “While(1<2)” (2014), and “Album Title Goes Here” (2012), demonstrated his range and inventiveness even more.
