Labor Day
Close the Summer in style…Vegas style.
Labor Day, the first Monday in September is officially a dedication to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the United States of America. As far as Las Vegas is concerned, Labor Day is the last big party weekend of the summer!
It’s needless to say that everybody is going to do it big. Labor Day 2011 is sure to be one for the record books. Concerts that weekend include larger than life performers such as Deadmau5, Gloria Trevi, Sade, Tiesto, 30 seconds to Mars, Def Leopard and the B-52s. One great thing about Vegas concerts is that you know the after party is going to be incredible.
But we’re not done yet…. Labor Day is the last big party weekend that Vegas pool parties will be open (most pool party’s close in late September). Pool party performers already slated to perform include the biggest names in house, hip/hop and electronic music. Skrillex, Lil Jon, Nelly, Roger Sanchez, EC Twins, A-Trak, Afrojack, Calvin Harris , Akon, Kaskade, Will.I.Am, Estelle, Chuckie & Martin Solveig are all hosting pool or nightclub parties this weekend. It’s definitely going to be a weekend to remember.
Halloween Weekend

If you have never done Halloween in Vegas, then you have never done Halloween. If you have been to Vegas before you know how excessive people can get here. Well then just imagine how big it gets in Vegas on Halloween. Vegas Halloween parties are WAY crazier than any other city! The weather is still a beautiful 70-80 degrees, even at night. Clubs compete for the biggest Halloween Bash. They have Halloween parties with $5,000, $10,000 even $20,000 costume contests. And of course there are literally thousands of hot ladies in their sexiest costumes ready to party. There is never a loss of something to do or something to see on Halloween in Vegas.
New Year’s Eve(Start planning today!)
Lastly, there is New Year’s Eve in Vegas. It is almost hard to describe the vibe in the City on NYE because it is so electric. 250,000+ people will be on the Strip partying with their drinks in hand (because that is perfectly legal here). The pulsing excitement on the Strip coupled with the miles of fireworks atop the rooftops of casinos makes Vegas a must see for New Years.
Every club has a major headliner hosting so there will be no shortage of hot parties. Last New Year’s Eve in Vegas had celebrities such as P Diddy, Cold Play, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce and Eric Morillo all headlining at NYE parties on the Strip. This coming New Year’s Eve is shaping up to be even bigger this year. And of course, just about every major DJ in the world will be spinning here. You are not going to want to miss it.
House & Electronic Dance Music(EDM)…take over Vegas Nightlife
If you have not been to Vegas in a few years, you may be surprised to see how many House/EDM DJs are headlining on the Las Vegas Strip. As of 2010, there are more EDM DJs playing on the Vegas Strip than any other music genre. That makes us wonder, where did EDM come from and how did it get to be the music of choice on the Vegas party scene?
The roots of EDM may be surprising. House/EDM (electronic dance music) originated in 1960s Jamaica. Innovative Jamaican DJs overlaid tracks on top of each other with a reel to reel tape player, an amp and an MC. This became known as Dub Music, but it was also the birth of EDM and House music. In the 70s Detroit House music DJ Frankie Knuckles AKA “The Grandfather of House” was the first DJ to rock a party with two turntables and a mixer. This advance in mixing records was the beginning of what we know as modern house music. At this same time, Europeans were discovering their own form of EDM by speeding up dance tracks in a form of mixing know as Gabba. In the 90s, Gabba gains major popularity in the UK club scene and gave birth to the dance music genres Drum & Bass, Trance and Jungle music.
That leads us to today. Unless you’ve been under a rock or haven’t been to Vegas lately, EDM is the music of choice in the hottest nightclubs. According to managing partner of mega club XS Jesse Waits, demand is what is pushing the EDM takeover in Las Vegas (LVS, 2011). Major venues are starting to book more EDM DJs and with the addition of the Electric Daisy Carnival being held in Vegas over Memorial Day weekend, Las Vegas has officially been declared the EDM capital of the World, even beating the hedonistic Spanish getaway, Ibiza.
So what is propelling the EDM takeover in Las Vegas clubs and pool parties? It is based on the overall club experience. The Las Vegas club experience is like no other clubbing experience. With 100 Million Dollar Mega venues hosting 5000-7,000 patrons nightly, the Vegas clubbing experience is more like a show than a party. The DJ, the music and the club lighting coordinate to give club goers an overall intimacy with the music they are listening to by indulging all 5 senses.
